SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Under general supervision performs a variety of clerical and general office work, including typing, filing, checking, and recording information; posts information to records and completes forms, some of which may be confidential; may operate a variety of office machines and equipment; handles telephone calls and greets the public; conducts transactions with the public; and does related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Training and experience:
Equivalent to graduation from high school, including or supplemented by coursework or training in typing, filing, and office practices. Basic computer skills desirable.
Knowledge of:
Appropriate English usage, spelling and grammar; arithmetical concepts; standard office machines and equipment; and numerical, alphabetical and subject matter filing systems.
Ability to:
Learn and apply standard office procedures and operate office equipment skillfully and efficiently; perform routine general office and clerical work with speed and accuracy; answer telephones and greet the public pleasantly and efficiently; and understand and carry out oral and written directions.

Environment:
Office environment; constant interruptions.
Physical Demands:
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard; hearing and speaking to exchange information in person and on the telephone; sitting or standing for extended periods of time; seeing to read a variety of materials; bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching to file materials. |
